MoCo Councilmember “At Large” Gabe Albornoz (Democrat) really really wants you to know he was named “Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce Legislator of the Year”.
So much so that he begins his e-mail to tax-paying constituents about his award… and then continues the whole communication to residents talking about… this award. Here is another excerpt from his e-mail:
It should be noted that County Exec Ike Leggett (Democrat) raised taxes so many times in Montgomery County, a term-limits amendment was passed by the voters overwhelmingly to prevent “Tax Hike” Ike from running for fourth term as County Exec.
During Ike Leggett’s terms in office, Montgomery County’s economy and job growth fell further and further behind regional peers like Arlington, VA or even Howard County, MD in attracting new firms and investment capital. Even Prince George’s County is waking up and realizing it can use the University of Maryland to improve its start-up climate and residency — and in so doing, surpassing MoCo’s growth forecast. This is who “mentored” Councilmember Albornoz.
The Councilmember then spends the second half of his e-mail to constituents telling them the exact same thing about his award from the MoCo Chamber of Commerce… but translated into Spanish. No other content is included in the June communication to taxpayers and residents. Nada about crime, schools, the budget or new initiatives. The councilmember really just wants you to know about his award, and how proud he is of it.
It should be noted that these are the previous winners of the “Legislator of the Year” award…
Do any of them really strike you as pro-prosperity, pro-real economic growth (not just growth of local government) politicians or public servants? Perhaps Lily QI?
