About one month after the Maryland primary vote for the 6th Congressional District, Councilmember (At Large, Democrat) Laurie-Anne Sayles appears to have still left her campaign website up and a donations / credit card capture form still active. By the logic of (some) nanny-state members of the Montgomery County Council and state delegation to Annapolis, this could be confusing to prospective voters or interested citizens, affect local and national democracy, and implies that the Sayles campaign, now ended, is still accepting donations.
Or perhaps it is just oversight by the councilmember, who was on the county job for about 8 months before she attempted to jump into federal politics.
This screen shot, captured 6/11/2024 around 7 PM EST, shows exactly what greets a visitor to the Sayles for Congress website once they click “Donate” in the top right corner. It appears donations are still very much welcome and “live”.
It should be noted that competing, ultimately losing campaigns for the Maryland 6th Congressional District (Democrat Party Primary) are correctly disabled or no longer accepting donations from would-be visitors. Here is JainforCongress.com:
And the young state delegate Joe Vogel has correctly disabled his fundraising form for his US Congress attempt:
Interestingly, JoeVogel.org still shows this screen cap / video starter as of 6/11/2024.
Fortunately Joe, oil and natural gas continue to power Maryland homes all across the state. Their era is still very much alive and well. And thank goodness they do! Cheap, abundant electricity is the lifeblood of modern civilization.
More to come.
Hopefully the Councilmember stops the solicitation of donations for a now-closed campaign.
