Five reasons you should move to Fairfax County

Fairfax County’s County executive (actually, chairman of the Board of Supervisors) is Jeffrey McKay. Here are the highlights from his May 31, 2023 newsletter.

  • Fairfax County-resident labor force is the largest it has ever been.
  • Employers are looking to fill over 70,000 jobs in the county.
  • Fairfax County government needs “to keep our foot on the gas – forging partnerships with business, government and academia, increasing the affordable housing stock to attract more workers, and more.”
  • Employer establishments in Fairfax County have increased by 12% since before the pandemic.
  • Continue diversifying the economy to reduce reliance on the federal government.

Our Montgomery County government has achieved none of these, and not for a long time.

In this and previous newsletters, Mr. McKay always expresses his repeated and sincere concern about the following matters:

  • Gun violence
  • Safety in houses of worship
  • Incentivizing use of public transportation
  • Clean energy production
  • Traffic safety
  • And much more…

There you have it: In Fairfax County, the Democratic leadership is as concerned about social justice as we are in Montgomery. The big difference is that in addition, the Fairfax County government cares about its residents, and the result is a robust, optimistic, and growing jurisdiction. They have proven that “liberal” means inclusion and opportunity. In MoCo the government cares only about its ideology, and the result is unfair tax burdens, well-funded special interests, and a population decline. We have proven that “progressive” means only anger and exclusion.
