During the 2022 election season it was not popular to be associated with a church that ascribed to beliefs that were counter mainstream MoCo culture. In fact, if you belonged to a church that did not support, for instance, gay marriage or transgender ideology you were labeled “hateful”. This was especially evident in the school board race, where one candidate served her local church, a church which happened to profess a set of beliefs where marriage is between one man and one woman. Current school board and council candidates running for re-election were hesitant to even be seen in public with her, much less endorse her, in fear that the morality vigilantes would turn their sights on them as well. She was falsely labeled and branded, all because of her religious association.
Turn the calendar to 2023 and diversity and inclusion seems now to allow such affiliations. School board member Brenda Wolff, one of the individuals scared that some forms of diversity and inclusion during election season would leave her without a position, took to Twitter yesterday to share a photo from a recent event.
Showcased in the photo is CM Evan Glass, CE Marc Elrich, CM Kate Stewart (she/her), CM Laurie-Anne Sayles, and CM Natali Fani-Gonazalez. Several of these individuals took a moment to also highlight the event on twitter.
Each of these individuals have come out strongly in the past that the idea of practicing a religion (or belonging to a place of worship) that does not marry gay couples or that does not support gender transitions is an act of hate. And yet there they stand, in a church that does just that. And not just standing there, professing the value of DIVERSITY.
The Global Mission Church has a confession of faith that includes the following:
The Global Mission Church though also offers a great location for a photo shoot to celebrate and recognize Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month.
So which is it folks? Will they renounce the church or just admit that their morality is actually based only on what will get them votes in the moment?
